Lauren McCormack, a resident of Madison, Wisconsin, and a rugby player for the Wisconsin Women’s Rugby Football Club passed away on November 16, 2024 at the age of 31. She was announced dead in a statement that read “It is with great sadness that we share the news of the loss of our teammate Lauren McCormack (LoMack), a member of our WWRFC family and the greater Madison rugby community.”
Who was Lauren McCormack?
Thomas ‘Tom’ McCormack, a retired White Plains police officer, and Mariana McCormack welcomed Lauren Ashley McCormack into the world on February 28, 1993. Michael and James had a sister named Lauren. She developed a lifetime passion of reading while attending Good Counsel Academy from Pre-K through Second Grade.
After that, she transferred to the White Plains School District, where she earned the President’s Award for Educational Achievement and graduated from White Plains High School with the class of 2010. From an early age, she loved taking part in extracurricular activities including dance class, Irish Step Dancing, and the Nutcracker.
About Lauren McCormack
She excelled as a 12-season athlete at the high school and later held the position of captain in both indoor/outdoor track and field and cross country. Her bright personality, cheerful disposition, and sense of humor made her a favorite among counselors and campers alike, where she taught swim lessons during the summers.
Lauren was introduced to and fell in love with rugby while she was a student at Boston University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications in 2014. Following graduation, Lauren relocated to Madison, Wisconsin, where she joined a close friend to play rugby for the Wisconsin Women’s Rugby Football Club.
She held officer positions and was instrumental in the team’s victory in the 2015 Rugby National Championship. She coached the UW-Madison Men’s College Rugby Club and youth flag rugby off the field. Lauren was an amazing friend, sister, and daughter. She loved to travel across the United States and Europe, and she loved being in nature. She valued the small pleasures in life, such as the night sky and the change of the seasons.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 3:00PM – 8:00PM at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home, Inc. 491 Mamaroneck Ave. White Plains, NY 10605. Mass burial will take place on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 9:45AM at St Pius X Church 91 Secor Road SCARSDALE, NY 10583. Final Resting Place will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery 575 Hillside Ave, WHITE PLAINS, NY 10603.
