Drury, who performed for 26 years, began his career during his college years at the University of Georgia. He was known for his versatility as both a musician and an entertainer, performing a wide range of songs across various genres and adapting his set to the mood of each audience and venue.
Born and raised on the Georgia coast, Don’s musical journey began in church choirs as a child and continued into high school with rock bands. During his freshman year at UGA, he bought an acoustic guitar and began performing solo gigs, both in Athens and along the Georgia and Florida coastlines.
Over time, he expanded his musical style by incorporating a Dobro guitar, slide guitar, and harmonica into his performances. In addition to his musical talent, Don was recognized for his charismatic stage presence, often engaging audiences with witty commentary and playful, impromptu alterations to song lyrics, ensuring that each show was memorable.
